IFA (Immuno-fluorescence assay)
Immunofluorescence assay (IFA) can be used for the detection of antibodies to virus infected cells coated on microscope slides as test antigens. Test and control serum samples are reacted on the test antigen and control cells (uninfected cells). If specific antibody is present in the test sera, it will bind to the test antigen and not the control cells. The presence of bound IgG antibody to the test antigen is detected by an FITC conjugated, goat anti-human IgG antibody by fluorescence-microscopy.
The minimum sample requirement is 1 ml of serum or plasma sent frozen.
